
Jennifer had always hoped to be a multitasking celebrity. In her youth she indulged in a wide range different musical styles, but mainly Afro-Caribbean dances such as salsa, merengue, bachata and merengue, as well as popular music such as pop hip-hop, R&B. She was a big fan of film and music. Her most significant influence came from the Rita Moreno musical, West Side Story (1961). At 5, Jennifer began taking singing and dancing lessons. Jennifer, besides being an entertainer , as well as a Catholic schoolgirl, attended 8 years of Holy Family Catholic Middle School located in The Bronx. After a four year stay in the Bronx, she graduated from Preston High School, an all-girls preparatory school. When she was at the school, Jennifer was an amazing athlete and participated in track and field and tennis. Her home in the Castle Hill neighbourhood was her house for the duration of her time. Jennifer was the first to leave the home of her parents at age 18 and moved out. Lopez began working at an office for lawyers while partying in the evenings.
