In America in the beginning, the performing arts accomplishments of young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely place her into the prodigy child category. For a child with Irish heritage, and surrounded as she was by gifted parents, and her family was naturally gifted, it came as a natural. Maureen entered into this nurturing home on August 17, 20 in Ranelagh. Marguerita FitzSimons was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman in Dublin who also owned a part of the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer team. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen excelled at sports and was a lover of rough play. This passion was combined with an equally natural aptitude of performing. As a result, she was awarded almost all of the Feis Awards for dramatic and acting within her own country. The Abbey Theater was her first choice. Abbey Theater by age 14 She then continued to pursue her dream of opera as well as classical theater and singing.
